About two months ago, a woman found a small kitten alone at work. She couldn’t leave him alone to protect herself.
She contacted animal shelters, but they were unable to take him in, so she contacted animal shelter founder Camryn Laufer. stray cat network (where she was previously adopted). Camryn threw everything away and rushed to see her.
The finder looked around but could not find the mother or other siblings. Camryn asked her to keep looking as there may still be others.
One kitten, affectionately named Football, was about four weeks old. He was scared at first, but with soft blankets and treats, he threw himself into the company and started purring. Later that day, Camlin noticed “a few imperfections in his hind legs.”
The finder returned to work the next morning and continued looking for more kittens.
Despite having looked around the previous day, she revisited the site and was stunned to discover two more kittens. Camryn wakes up with a message from Finder. “Once again, I ran to pick them up,” Camlin told Love Meow.
Footballer quickly cuddled up with his littermates, Birdy (orange) and Wiffle (grey), and was happy to be back together.
“They all looked healthy when ingested, but as I’ve learned over the years, looks can be deceiving.” After a few days, Birdy began showing mild signs of ataxia and lethargy.
After several tests, I was positive for panleukopenia (feline distemper). Camlin immediately began isolating and treating them and doing everything he could to save them.
“I tried to be optimistic, but I was also trying to mentally prepare for the worst.” Camlin installed cameras so he could monitor them 24 hours a day.
Thanks to timely rescue, prompt action and careful care, the kittens began to recover. They remained incredibly affectionate until they recovered.
Camlin had to wear gloves and a gown when handling the kittens, but the kittens didn’t care at all, just eagerly getting her attention.
“Despite all this, they were fine. Miraculously they all survived.”
After several weeks of healing, the kittens graduated from the recovery kennel and were able to roam and socialize in the area.
Together with their foster parents, they cuddled up into the storm and got all three rumbling motors going at the same time.
Football is full of energy and mischief, and they adore everyone they meet. He plays hard, but he cuddle harder. “Wiffle always cuddle and loves to sleep in my arms.”
Birdie is more clingy than anyone else and tries to accompany her foster parents wherever she goes.
She follows Camlin to the bathroom, sits on his shoulder at meals, and “helps” him with his crochet by pouncing and swiping on yarn.
“Her favorite thing to do is tuck her into the gap between my flanks or back and the sofa to sleep.”
Thanks to the Good Samaritan, the kittens were found just in time to be nursed and restored to health. Now they thrive, cuddling up all day long, filling the house with rumbling, rumbling, purring sounds.
“They are some of the most loving kittens I’ve ever had.”
